Christmas 2022

christmas-2022

Born to the world

The Year 2022 is coming to an end. The students from our schools concluded another year of their education. Many workplaces are slowing down in preparation for Christmas.

In one instance we are closing and concluding another year of work and study and at the same time we are getting ready to begin a new year. This is a strange experience when the end becomes the beginning.

As we come towards the end, we tend to reflect about the past and at the beginning we think about the future. As we reflect on the past, we recall difficult moments in our personal or family life. We experienced significant world events, war, Covid and natural disasters which has impacted all of us but at the same time, we experienced many wonderful moments which enlightened our life.

And now we are entering a new beginning, getting ready for Christmas and new year, making plans for the future. With not knowing what lies ahead, we are entrusting our world, our families and ourselves into God’s hands.

We must remember that Jesus Christ was born as a light to this world, as the holy Scripture says: “The people who walk in darkness will see a great light. For those who live in a land of deep darkness, a light will shine.”

Christ Jesus was born to this world as it was and as it is. He called us to be the children of the light. For that reason, we are not only celebrating his birth each year but also recommit ourselves to follow him and to become beacons of Christ’s light to our families, friends and to this world.

May the celebration of Christmas bring joy to your hearts, may it fill you with God’s gift of peace, may it strengthen your love for God and for his people.

Have a wonderful time with your family and friends, enjoy the suppers, breakfasts, lunches and dinners or whichever way you will celebrate it. Just remember the main reason of the Christmas celebration – Christ birth to this world as it was and as it is. Find the time to celebrate it with the community in your parish and invite your family and friends to join you in this spiritual time with God who was and is born to the world.

Merry Christmas.
